A lifted house in SE Portland about to receive a new foundation. Many homes in Oregon built before code enforcement are built on top of cinderblocks. In the event of a Major Earthquake, that makes the home unsafe, so when people want to preserve homes in Portland they often go this route, gutting the house, lifting it, and pouring a new foundation.
