The Columbia River Gorge. Pictured here looking west. The Columbia river rinds its way on the border of Oregon and Washington State. Interestingly, the river didn't carve out the gorge. The Columbia River Gorge was created by a combination of ancient volcanic eruptions and massive glacial floods that carved through the landscape over millions of years.
