This photo of an elderly lady near Troy, NY shows the pride the members of the Greatest Generation there have in being American. On an adjacent wall (not pictured) hangs photos of all her brothers who served in the Navy during World War II and Korea. Troy maintains the honor of being the burial place of Samuel Wilson, the man who was the inspiration for Uncle Sam. A statue of Uncle Sam sits behind the lady, a couple flags like one who might wave at a parade above her, a collection of red, white and blue baskets in the background. I spent the holidays trying out a new lens and boy am I impressed by the versatility of the 16-35mm f/4L IS USM. It is a huge upgrade from the 17-40mm f/4L USM I was shooting with, however that IS adds some weight. The shots I release over the next week will all be samples from this new lens.
