The desert town of Bombay Beach in California sits on the eastern shore of the Salton Sea, a very polluted and salty body of water. The town is protected from the rising water level of the Sea by this dyke. Since the town gets flooded every so often, townspeople have elected to abandon their homes during the worst of floods. Even the current dyke doesn't fully protect the town if water levels rise quickly. Some people still live here, amongst the rotting corpses of deserted homes. There are details in the pit not to be missed, including a tennis racket stuck in the mud. The town sits in the background, behind the dyke.
