This photo pretty much encapsulates why I love Subaru, which sounds so cliche due to their marketing campaign in the states. After being pretty much born into a family that always owned a Subaru, these cars are just familiar to me. I learned to drive on my mother's 1992 Subaru Legacy wagon. I've been driving Subarus for 15 years now and in that timespan owned 2 used and 1 new. Subarus are extremely dependable cars, the engine with proper care will last longer than most other manufacturers. This is why when driving around the Pacific Northwest or Northeast you see a ton of Subarus. Well, that and the AWD makes driving in the snow easier. I've driven my Subaru's out of 1 foot of snow several times without shoveling. After owning a Legacy and Outbacks, I know a decent amount about their mechanics so it doesn't make sense for me to purchase any other brand at this point. I'll probably be behind the wheel of a Subaru for the rest of my life, whipping around the twists and turns of mountain roads.
