I search for scenes filled with beautiful light and construct surreal abstract expressionist images by moving the camera while exposing the frame. The resulting aesthetic presents a distorted view of reality open to interpretation by the viewer. I usually don’t reveal the personal meaning in these works except for hinting at it in the title. I offer an experience for the viewer to construct their own meaning from their subconscious mind. In this way, the work is steeped in a surrealist worldview. The work questions our perceptual awareness of space and time. This series of kinetic photographs are an extension of early studies in motion photography. While futurist photographers and even the cubists in the early 20th century thought in terms of the Machine Age, this work offers a perspective from the time we currently live.
