Troy, NY is experiencing a revival of sorts right now. Property values are going up post recession, artists from Brooklyn are moving into town. In the past couple years, Troy, NY commissioned some artists to create statues of Uncle Sam, who was native to the city. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery nearby and lived close to Prospect Park in Troy. Each Uncle Sam statue is different. This one allows anyone to write on it. There are 18 or more of the statues around the city now. Recently, a vandal started decapitating the statues but he was caught. Troy, NY is a river town in Upstate New York in the Albany Capitol Region. The city sits on the Hudson River. This photo is part of a series of photographs taken in the Albany Capitol Region during a recent trip there in Autumn of 2013. I had a few selects for this shot, but chose this one for the perspective, the contrast between the Uncle Sam statue and the man and overall color and tone. 3 shot HDR processed in Photoshop CC.
