A whirlwind of surreal textures confront the viewer. Swirling lines flow into gradients of natural light. Vibrant greens and blues harmonize into a flowing zen-like aesthetic. Most light painting photographers choose a flashlight, but since I began working in the medium of photography I felt it was more natural to use the camera as the paintbrush. Kinetic light painting usually consists of perfect geometric form, but I prefer the somewhat incidental nature of quick, gestural movements with the camera. 1-6 second exposures either at night or in properly lit daylight yield extraordinary visions of nature. This photo is also a tribute to Modest Mouse, who consistantly has inspried my creative process through the years. I invite you to take a look at my kinetic light paintings, you may find some interesting work. I will be uploading 1-2 a day on 500px for the next month.
